It's been far too long

It's been almost TWO years since I last posted in this blog. Wow. I'm taken back to the days of using the LJ client, using flickr to host photos, and the little "mood" select menu. Those were also the days of worrying about university assessment, procrastinating to the Max... It feels strange writing here again, re-visiting those more innocent days when my LJ friends and I hadn't started our Brilliant Careers and Mid-Life Crisis'.
The reason I always wrote 'friends only' was because I wasn't sure who would read it. But for this post, fuck it: I'm reclaiming back my old blogging identity, and this public post is a declaration that I'm going to begin writing more regularly again. Maybe I should just get a new user name, shed some of that old baggage associated with this one and begin afresh....

A long, long time no update
Jul. 30th, 2008 | 11:08 pm
Hello friends,
After going back to live in China again for a month (ie no livejournal access (@*$(!), I am now back in Hong Kong. I love this city, it's such a nice change from hectic Shenzhen. I hope that everyone can come and visit this city once in their lives - to see the electic mix of Eastern and Western culture, the beautiful skyline, the lazy quiet islands and of course the frenetic pace of Central. Describing it doesn't do it justice.
I went to a traditional Chinese doctor the other day. He told me my medicial problems are related to going on the computer too much - how am I not surprised?! Lately I've been trying a low information diet and it's been working better for my mental state. Please don't expect the next post to be for a while! I am planning a trip to Indonesia, the Gili Islands. It's supposed to be great, and amazing diving.
Goodbye!
Lisa

Friend's Only.
Jun. 24th, 2008 | 12:28 pm
Most of my entries are 'friend's only'. This means you need an LJ account and I need to add you before you can read these entries. If you want to be added back, please comment and tell me a bit about yourself because I don't want complete strangers reading about my life. Thank you!
If you don't update or comment, or you're a weirdo man/guy, I probably won't add you (or your entries don't interest me if I don't know you).

FINALLY!
Mar. 29th, 2008 | 11:06 am
I FINALLY have access to Livejournal!!!! Damn Chinese firewall, can't access anything. MISSED YOU ALL!!!!
The only reason I can update is because I'm not in China! Right now I'm in a little town on the South West coast of Thailand, Khao Lak. I'm going to get my PADI diving certification and go on a liveaboard for 4 days to the Similan Islands. Very exciting!
Oh, Thailand is so, so beautiful. I've hardly just arrived here and I already miss this place. The people are so friendly, the weather is gorgeous, the food delectable and I'm sure the diving will be amazing. There are so many cute little girls here, it makes me want to have a baby girl, ha ha ha!
OK I gotta get off the net now. I just had a 12 hour bus ride from Bangkok, it was tiring.
I'll be starting work in Hong Kong next week (April 7) so I can finally update frequently too - depending on how long I'm in the office. My room in HK resembles a jail cell. It's tiny like you wouldn't believe, and has bars on the windows. It makes me want to cry.
Ahhh ciao!

The travel plan so far

The travel plan so far.
Please let me know if you are in the region or wanting to travel to these places (*especially* the trans-mongolian route to Russia), I would love to see you!
And if you know any kind-hearted people who may want to meet up with me in their cities, that would be great (considering some of the places I'm going to I will know no one).
Also any travel tips for people who have been to these regions, very much appreciated!
February - October:
China (Macau - Shenzhen - Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai various other cities - Tibet)
I have a tentative work offer for Shanghai.
Other Asian countries depending on my funds (Japan/Korea)
I want to go to Bhutan (where else is there the concept of Gross National Happiness?!) but it's difficult for a foreigner to go there I think.
October - November
Trans-mongolian train from Beijing through Mongolia
to Russia (Moscow, St Petersburg)
Helsinki, Lapland maybe.
Possibly go on ship to Sweden
Reykjavik (Iceland)
November - December
US (New York, LA)
Possibly Toronto
Possibly Central America (I will be dead broke by this time but apparently Honduras is a great place to learn to scuba dive)
Early January
Tahiti. Very expensive.
Back home to Australia!

Weird fishes/Arpeggi - Radiohead
Central Reservation - Beth Orton
Viva Forever - Spice Girls (COME ON THIS IS A GOOD SONG)

Tasmania
Dec. 14th, 2007 | 08:49 pm
I'm in Tasmania right now! It's so beautiful, and I'm so happy because it's the first time in more than a week that I've had proper internet access :)
Today I went to the Cadbury chocolate factory for a tour and a place that made sheep's cheese. I got to milk a sheep and saw cute little lambs. Then I ate an old dead sheep in the form of a sausage.
There are a lot of beautiful white sand beaches here except it's too cold to go swimming. I went to Port Arthur yesterday, which was where all the really, really bad convicts used to be sent. In 1996, there was also a crazy psycho who shot 36 people dead in the same place. It was eery and despite the beautiful scenery and serenity, I had a bad vibe about it.
Now I'm in Huonville and tomorrow we're going to a rainforest. Yippee!!!
